Our client, a leading player in the South African mining industry, is seeking a dynamic and seasoned Stakeholder Affairs Manager to join their leadership team. This is a pivotal role for an individual who is passionate about building sustainable relationships and driving positive community impact in a complex and rewarding environment.
Requirements:
- A Degree or Diploma in Developmental Studies, Social Science, or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of direct Stakeholder or Community Relations Senior Advisors/ Superintendent/ Specialist/ Manager experience within a South African mining environment
- 5+ years in a dedicated stakeholder/community relations role within South African mining.
- Proven track record engaging with: Mining Communities, Traditional Authorities, Local Municipalities, and the DMRE
- Previous role level: Senior Advisor, Superintendent, Specialist, or Junior Manager.
Key Performance Areas:
- Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively manage relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including DMR, local communities, traditional leadership (Councillors & Chiefs), local municipalities, and educational institutions.
- Social Licence to Operate: Develop and maintain trust-based relationships that secure the mine's social license to operate
- Social Labour Plan (SLP) & LED: Lead the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the mine’s Social Labour Plan and Local Economic Development (LED) initiatives
- Community Upliftment: Oversee corporate social investment (CSI) projects and training initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to local communities
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure full compliance with all relevant social and legislative requirements. Prepare and submit accurate and timely internal and external reports
