An established independent school in Polokwane is on the lookout for a dynamic, energetic and organised Sports Coordinator to lead, coach and inspire across all sports codes.
This role is made for a sport-loving multitasker who’s just as comfortable drawing up schedules and ordering kit as they are coaching from the field.
What You'll Be Doing:
Coordination & Planning:
-
Planning and scheduling all high school coaching activities
-
Allocating coaches, managing stock and equipment orders
-
Coordinating entries for leagues, galas, tournaments and local fixtures
-
Communicating timetables, results and event info to parents and staff
-
Keeping sporting records up to date and compiling annual reports
-
Creating termly sports calendars and managing the awards process
Coaching & Mentorship:
-
Coaching in your own discipline (and officiating too!)
-
Leading and mentoring coaching staff
-
Sourcing and assigning coaches to learning and development opportunities
-
Driving talent identification through PE and skill-based assessments
PE & Talent Development:
-
Planning and implementing PE programmes as per IEB guidelines
-
Creating sport-specific rubrics and assessment tools
-
Scouting talent and encouraging participation in a wide range of codes
Event Management:
-
Planning and running sporting events, tours and camps
-
Coordinating logistics, permissions, registers and helpers
-
Managing match day proceedings – from announcements to catering
-
Welcoming visiting teams and ensuring a smooth event experience
Team Leadership & Communication:
-
Supporting the Head of Sport in managing staff and resolving issues
-
Handling parent communications with professionalism and care
-
Building a positive, inclusive sporting culture on campus
What We’re Looking For:
-
A B.Ed or PGCE (SACE registration required)
-
A Sport Science qualification would be a big plus
-
2–3 years' experience as a sports coach (any code)
-
Exposure to event/sports coordination (1–2 years)
-
Strong communication and admin skills
-
A passion for school sportS, structure, and developing young athletes
