Sourcing Coordinator - Retail Clothing /Manufacturing - Cape Town

POSITION INFO:
Our reputable Retail client is seeking a skilled Sourcing Coordinator to join their team that is based in Cape Town.

Purpose of the role:
The Sourcing Coordinator will be responsible for managing the sourcing process for finished goods from international suppliers while ensuring products are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role requires strong negotiation skills, excellent administration, and the ability to build long-term supplier relationships while supporting buyers in delivering commercially successful product ranges.

Requirements:
- Previous experience working directly with overseas suppliers.
- Strong administrative and written communication skills.
- Computer literate with good systems proficiency.
- Experience within a manufacturing or similar production environment is advantageous.
- Previous experience managing or supervising a Sourcing Assistant.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
- Fashion retail or sourcing experience will be highly advantageous.

Key Skills & Activities
- Source finished goods from overseas suppliers in a cost-effective and timely manner.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines, and favourable commercial terms with suppliers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with international suppliers and manufacturers.
- Understand garment construction and workmanship to recommend alternative fabrics or construction methods where appropriate.
- Ensure all critical path deadlines are achieved to support seasonal deliveries.
- Maintain accurate product information and updates on the PLM system.
- Work closely with Buyers to ensure briefs are executed accurately and efficiently.
- Demonstrate strong commercial awareness to identify opportunities for portfolio growth.
- Negotiate styling changes and pricing solutions that benefit both the business and suppliers.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying smarter, more efficient sourcing processes.
- Provide guidance and oversight to the Sourcing Assistant where required.
