Main Job Purpose
The Master Solar Technician will organise and plan Solar projects from start to finish, this includes monitoring progress, managing risks and ensuring continuous communication with all relevant stakeholders.
The successful Project Manager – Solar is an achiever with high levels of energy, works proactively and is self-driven.

Aim: To have subordinates such as Electrician - Solar Technician – Solar Junior Technician -  Solar

Employment Specification

Education & Experience (minimum requirements to perform the job)
School:        

• Matric

• Electrical Engineer Degree/B Tech or similar (must have practical experience) AND / OR
• Qualified Electrician with Wireman’s License (must be excellent communicator)
• Management Development programme will be advantageous

• Valid Unendorsed Code 08 Drivers License
• Excellent computer skills (incl. Microsoft)

• Solid knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, and systems
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of electrical design and maintenance processes
• Solar systems and installation experience will be needed.

• A reasonable amount of time will be spent out of the office
• Physical demands are those required to work on a construction site and/or existing facility, when necessary.
• Must be able to work at heights, when necessary.
• Drive a motor vehicle according to standards on public roads.
• A regular amount of overtime and standby duties to be performed, including the requirement to work on weekends when the project require such.
• The work is performed inside and outside buildings.

• The management of the solar department and all its functions, including but not limited to client interaction and planning, designing, procuring and installing solar solutions to prospective clients
• Estimating and establishing cost parameters and budgets for purchases
• Maintain accurate records of purchases and pricing
• Create and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers
• Create and maintain good relationships with customers
• Making professional decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Maintain records of COC’s and other important data
• Review and analyze all vendors/suppliers, supply, and price options
• Develop plans for purchasing equipment, services, and supplies
• Negotiate the best deal for pricing and supply contracts
• Ensure that the products and supplies are high quality
• Oversee projects and ensure high quality standards at met
• Create and maintain inventory of all incoming and current supplies
• Maintain and update list of suppliers and their qualifications, delivery times, and potential future development
• Working with team members to complete duties as needed
• Ensure the Company complies with Health & Safety requirements
