REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant Certificate/ Diploma/ Degree in Engineering studies or any other relevant qualification
- At least 2-4 years of experience in a FMCG production environment as a qualified Millwright or Electrician with a strong mechanical background
- Proven basic PLC knowledge to facilitate fault-finding
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems and equipment
- Strong and unquestionable fault-finding techniques in both electrical and mechanical disciplines
- Self-motivator with good planning and organization skills
- Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime if required
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct maintenance and repair duties on equipment to ensure that production runs uninterrupted and efficiently
- Execute planned, scheduled, breakdown and shutdown maintenance activities on dairy process machines, utilising the respective machine’s maintenance manual and according to the relevant standard operating procedures
- Record, document, and file all maintenance and machine records accurately and on time, and utilise the data to enhance the preventive maintenance strategy. (e.g. job cards)
- Ensure high engineering standards by the correct testing of plant and equipment before releasing for use
- Attend to breakdowns promptly and efficiently, as machine uptime is an integral service to production, often provided under pressure
- Ensure that an OEE of between 80% and 85% is maintained at all times
- Comply with company quality, hygiene and HACCP standards and procedures at all times
- Comply with safety standards as specified in the OSHACT and any additional site safety policies and procedures
- Work a 3-shift system with every 3rd weekend off to provide immediate technical support to production during shift working hours
- Make good judgments based on best practice, and institute corrective actions using the appropriate tools
- Conduct regular stock take of all parts and tools, and order stock where necessary to ensure that it is available for breakdown and planned maintenance activities
- Maintain two-way communication with department managers and supervisors, liaise with machine operators and form partnerships with suppliers
