POSITION INFO:
Our Global Client with offices in New Zealand are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer who has 8+ years of experience in software testing, with expertise in automation and test strategy development
Please note you MUST BE BASED IN NEW ZEALAND (REMOTE Based or if prefer to Be in Office,they also have an office in Wellington)
Purpose of the Position
- The Quality Engineer L3 will play a key role in ensuring software products meet and exceed industry standards and customer expectations. They will have extensive experience in automation, test architecture, advanced testing
- methodologies, and SDLC best practices.
- The ideal candidate will contribute to test strategy, framework development, and process optimization, while also designing scalable test architectures to support robust quality assurance.
- Additionally, they will mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Strong communication skills are essential to collaborate with cross-functional teams,
- influence quality initiatives, and align testing eHorts with business objectives
Accountabilities and Duties
- Report results and issues out of testing to delivery team
- Develop and execute automated and manual tests to ensure the quality of
- software products.
- Collaborate with developers and other team members to identify, diagnose, and resolve software defects.
- Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
- Review and provide feedback on software requirements and specifications.
- Design and implement quality metrics to track software quality and identify
- areas for improvement.
- Conduct root cause analysis to determine the underlying cause of software
- defects.
- Participate in software development life cycle activities, including design
- reviews, code reviews, and testing.
- Stay current with industry standards and emerging technologies.
- Work with Head of QA and other engineering leads to enhance quality delivery, processes.
- Accountable for test architecture and improving/enhancing testing/QE
- processes and tooling.
- Mentoring Junior and Mid-level QEs, fostering skill development and best
- practices
- Work closely with developers, BAs, POs, and DevOps to embed quality early in
- the SDLC.
- Advocate for test-driven development (TDD), behaviour-driven development
- (BDD), and shift-left testing.
- Champion quality assurance best practices across teams to drive a culture of
- continuous improvement.
- Lead defect triage sessions, prioritizing and escalating critical issues.
- Represent QA in project meetings, ensuring quality is prioritized.
- Recommend and implement new tools, frameworks, and methodologies. Tools
- and process must be agreed to by tech forum or Head of QA
- Review and approve test cases, automation scripts, and test plans.
- Make decisions on release readiness based on test results and risk assessment
- in conjunction with Head of QA, and stakeholders within the project assigned.
- Design and maintain scalable test frameworks for functional and non-functional testing.
- Define and implement test strategies aligned with business goals

- This position requires a high degree of autonomy and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
The role shall liaise with the following external parties:
- At times it maybe required for QE L3's to engage with client teams for installation and testing of software at Licensee sites.
- The role has no authority to incur routine expenditure, commit capital expenditure, approve loans, or extend credit without approval from the Managing Director or the Managing Director's designated representative.
- The role has no authority to bind the Company to agreements with any other party without approval the Managing Director or the Managing Director's
- designated representative.
