About the Role

Our client, a growing leader in the asset finance and leasing sector, is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant to support the group’s financial management and reporting functions. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who excels in financial data analysis and is looking to advance their career within a dynamic financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting: Maintain general ledger integrity, process month-end and year-end entries, and prepare monthly journals, accruals, and provisions.
Reporting: Assist with the preparation of management accounts, annual financial statements, and supporting schedules for board and funder reporting.
Reconciliations & Controls: Perform comprehensive reconciliations for bank accounts, funding facilities, debtors, creditors, VAT, and intercompany accounts while ensuring strict adherence to internal controls.
Asset Finance & Lease Accounting: Manage finance lease and rental asset schedules, process acquisitions and disposals, and monitor depreciation and amortisation calculations.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight: Review creditor reconciliations, assist with payment runs, and monitor debtor balances and ageing.
Tax & Compliance: Facilitate VAT calculations and submissions, prepare income tax schedules, and coordinate with auditors for statutory and regulatory reporting.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance finance processes and support the implementation of new systems and reporting enhancements.

Requirements

Qualifications: BCom Accounting or an equivalent accounting degree is required. Completed SAICA, SAIPA, or CIMA articles is highly advantageous.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of core accounting experience, including management accounts preparation and complex balance sheet reconciliations.
Industry Knowledge: Previous experience within Financial Services, Asset Finance, Leasing, or Banking is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and experience working with ERP systems.
Competencies: Strong analytical ability, high attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
