About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join our procurement team, supporting fabrication and engineering projects. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, and services to ensure smooth production and project delivery. The ideal candidate will bring strong supplier management expertise and a deep understanding of fabrication materials and supply chain dynamics.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability
• Procure raw materials, fabrication components, and indirect goods
• Prepare and issue purchase orders in line with production schedules and budgets
• Track orders, expedite deliveries, and manage supplier lead times
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and finance teams for demand planning
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to optimise cost and value
• Resolve supply chain issues, quality concerns, and non-conformances
• Ensure procurement compliance and maintain accurate documentation
• Monitor market trends and identify new sourcing opportunities

• Matric (essential)
• Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field (advantageous)
• Professional certifications (CIPS, CPM, CPSM) preferred

• 10+ years procurement experience
• Minimum 5 years in manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environments
• Experience sourcing fabrication materials (steel, sheet metal, fasteners, etc.)
• Exposure to international sourcing and import/export logistics

• Strong negotiation and contract management skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel
• Experience with procurement tools (WorkflowMax, Dext, Hubdoc)
• Knowledge of SharePoint and document control systems
• Understanding of ISO 9001 and supplier quality processes

• Strong commercial and analytical mindset
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
