The Role: Senior Bookkeeper

The Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for accurately maintaining the company''''''''s financial records and ensuring timeous processing of daily, weekly, and monthly financial transactions. This role supports management by providing reliable financial information, driving statutory compliance, assisting with reporting, and overseeing administrative logistics including certifications and fleet administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply a minimum of 5+ years of comprehensive bookkeeping or accounting experience in full-function cashbook, debtors, creditors, inventory, statutory returns, and management accounts.

• Execute daily banking operations, supplier invoice matching, customer invoicing, aged reporting, and general ledger journal postings.

• Complete month-end processing and balance sheet reconciliations for bank, credit cards, petty cash, assets, debtors, creditors, and statutory accounts.

• Handle VAT administration, payroll journal capturing, and statutory levy calculations and payments for PAYE, UIF, and SDL.

• Monitor weekly cash flow forecasts and manage inventory control processing and adjustments.

• Compile and deliver monthly management reporting packs including Trial Balance, Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Budget vs. Actual comparisons.

• Maintain centralized registers for company certifications, business licenses, and vehicle fleet documentation.

About You

• Minimum 5+ years of comprehensive bookkeeping or accounting experience within an industrial, engineering, or commercial business environment.

• Higher Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor''''''''s Degree in Accounting, Financial Management, or Bookkeeping (e.g., ICBA certification).

• Complete understanding of South African tax law, statutory requirements (VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL), and accounting standards.

• Hands-on experience with modern accounting software platforms (e.g., SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• High attention to detail, numerical accuracy, analytical problem-solving, organizational skills, integrity, confidentiality, and professional communication skills.

• Prior experience managing company compliance records, licenses, and fleet administration is highly advantageous.
