Satellite Support Technician

SUMMARY:
Satellite Support Technician required for company based in Pretoria, must have experience in Installation, Maintenance and Support of satellite network equipment.

POSITION INFO:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Applicable technical knowledge and experience
• Applicable tertiary qualification
• Self-driven and can work independently.
• Detail orientated
• Must be willing to travel
• Must have his own transport and valid driver’s license.
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Disciplined and deadline orientated.
• Experience in dealing with suppliers
• Basic Administration skills
• Basic Inventory management and administration skills.
• Good communication skills. Be able to interact with customers on all seniority levels

JOB PURPOSE

• Installation, Maintenance and Support of satellite network equipment and Gateway Earth Station site in accordance with prescribed and or customer expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical

• Install, test, repair, maintain, upgrade, update and or conduct diagnostic fault finding of satellite network equipment or the like as may be applicable within required SLA
• Apply industry best practise or approved methodologies, techniques and procedures to ensure optimize network / system / equipment performance
• Conduct preventative and or break-fix maintenance within agreed SLA timelines.
• Identify and address potential risk factors that may impact continuation of service
• Oversee and Supervise the overall status of allocate site such as cleanliness, security, facilities.
• Compile and submit adhoc reports as may be required on a needs or ongoing basis.

Supplier Management

• Participate in the management of Supplier / Service Provider deliverables at designated / allocated sites

Logistical Management

• Participate and assist with the management of spares, components or the like regarding ongoing maintenance and support of all aspects at the Gateway Earth Station / designated or allocated site.

Customer Liaison

• Liaise with customer as required, provide required reporting and or responses within contracted and or agreed time.
