Position Overview

• Location: Johannesburg (Spartan, Kempton Park), with regular travel to Cape Town, Durban, and client sites nationally

• Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

• Remuneration & Benefits: R50 000 per month CTC (Negotiable based on experience), performance-related incentives, travel allowance, and ongoing product training

Role Summary

The Consumable Sales Manager leads and grows the shrink label film and packaging film business unit. This hands-on, field-based role manages the end-to-end B2B sales cycle—from qualifying new converter accounts to technical consultation, material trials, quoting, closing, and long-term account management. The role combines commercial drive with technical credibility across flexographic printing, shrink sleeve, and flexible packaging environments.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Pipeline Growth

• Identify and target flexo converters, label producers, and flexible packaging manufacturers across South Africa.

• Build and manage a structured sales pipeline to meet monthly and quarterly revenue and margin targets.

• Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer site visits to expand market presence.

Technical Consultative Selling

• Conduct customer needs assessments to recommend appropriate shrink film materials (PVC, PETG, cPET, Polyolefin), shrink ratios, and gauges.

• Advise on packaging film structures, duplex and triplex laminates, and barrier performance for pouches, sachets, and doy pack formats.

• Run on-site trials and material sampling alongside technical teams to demonstrate print quality, shrink performance, and shelf appeal.

• Present technical proposals and total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses to production managers, print buyers, and procurement teams.

Account Management & Customer Care

• Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing film customers to ensure consistent service and technical support.

• Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities across the shrink label and packaging film ranges.

• Manage customer inquiries regarding product performance, technical data sheets (TDS), and order fulfillment.

Operations, Logistics & Reporting

• Maintain accurate customer, pipeline, and forecast records, generating accurate quotations for orders.

• Coordinate across regional operations (Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban) to ensure stock availability and on-time delivery.

• Report regularly to the Managing Director on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activity.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

• Grade 12 / Matric (Required); Tertiary qualification in Sales, Marketing, or a technical discipline is highly advantageous.

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven B2B technical sales experience in flexographic printing, flexible packaging, shrink label films, or a related industrial supply environment.

Technical Competencies & Attributes

• Proven ability to manage a full B2B sales cycle from lead generation to contract close.

• Proficient in working with Technical Data Sheets (TDS), MSDS documentation, and product specifications.

• Proficient in CRM systems, MS Office Suite, and proposal/quotation tools.

• Strong verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills.

• Self-driven, target-oriented, and comfortable managing an independent, field-based territory.

• Valid South African driver''s license and own reliable vehicle.
