A leading Underwriting Management Agency (UMA), forming part of a globally recognized reinsurance group, located in the East Rand.

Job Description

Our client is looking for a skilled and experienced Claims Negotiator to manage the full claims lifecycle within a building insurance environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for handling all aspects of claims administration and negotiation, ensuring efficient processing, compliance with policy terms, and effective communication with all stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities will include:

New claims registration
Assessing the merits of claims in terms of policy wording
Appointment of contractors and loss adjusters
Authorisation of claims and drafting of rejection letters
Processing requests for claims payments
Liaising with brokers and service providers

Qualifications

Matric (non-negotiable)
Short-term insurance qualifications (Advantageous)
FAIS compliance (Advantageous)

Skills

The successful candidate will have:

5 – 10 years’ building claims experience, preferably within a UMA or insurance environment
Fluency in English and Afrikaans
Computer literacy (MS Word, Outlook and Excel)
Strong attention to detail
Deadline-driven with the ability to prioritise workload
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Assertive with the ability to manage stakeholders effectively
Ability to work well under pressure
