Vacancy: SHE Supervisor – Food Industry / Citrus Sector
Company Overview:
Join a leading company in the food processing/citrus industry, committed to excellence in operational safety, hygiene, and employee wellbeing. We are seeking a dedicated SHE Supervisor to champion our Safety, Health & Environmental initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and implement OHS and hygiene risk assessments, procedures, and work instructions.
- Identify and mitigate workplace hazards wherever possible.
- Deliver safety training (hazard identification, emergency plans, toolbox talks, inductions) for employees and subcontractors.
- Promote a strong SHE culture through visible leadership, engagement, and awareness campaigns.
- Conduct daily hygiene inspections in the packhouse, directing cleaning staff as needed.
- Execute routine checks/audits, including daily hygiene walkabouts, weekly first aid stock checks, monthly fire equipment checks, and annual OSHA audits.
- Manage PPE stock: ordering, issuing, repairs, replacements, and laundering.
- Maintain readiness for company and governmental audits and inspections.
- Investigate and document incidents; report near-misses and analyze trends.
- Ensure implementation and follow-up of corrective actions for non-conformances.
- Chair monthly SHE meetings and review SHE representative inspection findings.
- Maintain legal compliance with updated certifications and appointments.
- Ensure contractor compliance through induction, documentation, and site monitoring.
- Support quality execution by ensuring proper procedures and checks.
- Conduct competency assessments and ongoing review of OHS/hygiene procedures.
- Submit monthly SHE reports and maintain robust communication across all levels.
- Train staff on procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct staff assessments, give feedback, and schedule refresher training.
- Perform additional tasks as directed and support operations during off-season periods.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum: Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
- Advantageous: National diploma in Safety Management, Risk Management, SAMTRAC, or related field.
- Previous experience in the citrus, agriculture, or food processing industry is highly beneficial.
