ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a SAIPA-accredited training firm looking for a SAIPA Trainee Clerk with a strong interest in auditing and assurance work. This position is suited for a motivated individual who is currently studying BCom Accounting part-time and wishes to pursue a career in audit, assurance, and accounting while completing their SAIPA articles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with planning and execution of audits for SME clients
- Compile and complete audit working papers under supervision
- Perform substantive testing of financial statement line items
- Verify documentation, conduct analytical procedures, and confirm balances
- Assist with preparation of independent reviews and audit reports
- Liaise directly with clients to obtain records and resolve audit queries
- Ensure compliance with IFRS for SMEs and SAIPA ethical guidelines
- Support preparation of management accounts and tax returns when needed
- Maintain proper audit documentation and file structure
- Learn and apply audit procedures using firm audit software
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Studying BCom Accounting part-time
- High interest in audit and assurance work
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured audit processes
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, and email
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
- Professional attitude and willingness to learn
PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED)
- Exposure to CaseWare, DraftWorx, Pastel, or Sage
- Previous internship or experience in an accounting or auditing environment
- Familiarity with SARS eFiling and basic tax concepts
