Your typical day as a Roaming Clinical Associate in a radiology environment includes:
Working closely with radiologists, nurses, referring doctors and clinical staff to provide superior interventional radiological procedures.
- Collaborating with physicians and healthcare providers to ensure accurate, timely patient diagnoses.
- Managing patient care with compassion and professionalism, ensuring comfort and safety throughout their visit with us.
- Contributing to a fast-paced, evolving environment where your skills are valued and continuously honed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP)
- A valid driver’s license with own reliable transport
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure your list is carefully planned and communicated with all relevant stakeholders
- Obtain clinical history & screen prior to an interventional procedure as part of pre-procedure assessment.
- Ordering relevant blood tests and interpreting blood results
- Assistant with interventional radiological procedures.
- Performing, inter alia, the following procedures under supervision/instruction of the Radiologist:
- Aspiration, incision, and drainage of superficial abscess.
- Lumbar puncture (adults only).
- Paracentesis/Ascites tap.
- Pleural tap/ Pleural biopsies.
- Thyroid FNA.
- Lymph nodes biopsy.
- FNA of breasts and nodes.
- Central line insertion (CVP).
- Nasogastric tube placement.
- Assist with joint aspirations.
- Intravenous line insertion for infusion.
- Injections (medication/anaesthetics/contrast).
- Catheterisation of bladder or rectum or sinus cavity.
- Bag, mask and/or portable ventilation & relevant support.
- Basic life support, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) including use of Defibrillation device (auto of manual - (adult and paediatric).
- First aid.
- Close surgical incisions.
- Provide post care instructions for interventional procedures.
- Sedating and monitoring of sedated patients.
- Administration of Oxygen.
- Full spine immobilization & log roll.
- Assist with patient immobilization.
- Communication with referring doctor and patient regarding procedure specifics.
- Assist with the process and preparation of medication for Iodine allergy prep, nerve blocks and cardiac imaging.
- Assist with the Triage of procedure order as required.
- Assist with patient questions/concerns pertaining to procedures.
- Post procedure monitoring or follow up calls/consults for patients who had allergic reaction, crash, injury in department, drip extravasation, sedation, GA etc.
- Performing any task delegated by the supervising medical practitioner in accordance with the education, training and experience of the Clinical Associate.
Hours of Work:
- Monday to Friday, 08h00 to 17h00
- Weekend call every third week: Saturday and Sunday, 06h00 to 18h00
