The employer owns and manages its own residential building portfolio (flats). This role supports the Residential Leasing Supervisor with the marketing, interviewing, vetting and leasing of residential units, and with maintaining strong, professional relationships with tenants throughout the leasing lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with marketing available residential units (flats) to prospective tenants.
• Interview prospective tenants and assess their suitability.
• Check references and conduct background checks on prospective tenants.
• Prepare and draw up residential lease agreements (standardised templates, populated with tenant-specific details).
• Communicate with tenants professionally and firmly on contractual matters, obligations and expectations.
• Support tenant retention through proactive, courteous communication while ensuring compliance with lease terms.
• Work one Saturday morning per month (09:00 – 12:30). The specific Saturday is not fixed and varies month to month, scheduled as needed.
Requirements
• A minimum of 3 – 5 years' experience in residential letting/leasing administration, specifically for flats/apartments. This is essential.
• Solid working knowledge of leasing terminology and the residential leasing process (marketing, interviewing, referencing, lease preparation).
• Confident, professional communication style, comfortable explaining lease terms and conditions to tenants.
• Based within a reasonable commuting distance of the Cape Town CBD. Southern Suburbs is acceptable; Northern Suburbs (e.g. Bellville, Durbanville) has not worked out well historically due to travel time and the office's fixed opening hours (08:30).
• Available to work one Saturday morning per month (09:00 – 12:30), on a date that varies.
