Repairs & Returns Technician

SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a skilled and technically minded Repairs & Returns Technician to join their established team in Johannesburg.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect returned products and diagnose technical faults.
• Repair products where possible and identify the root cause of failures.
• Evaluate product failures and prepare detailed technical reports.
• Assist with technical evaluation of new products and compliance requirements.
• Support relevant product certification and testing processes.
• Attend installation sites when required to inspect lighting installations.
• Inspect lighting fittings, drivers, wiring and associated components.
• Identify and diagnose product faults, installation faults and electrical supply issues.
• Assess installation quality and compliance with relevant specifications and standards.
• Identify incorrect installation practices that may affect product performance or safety.
• Take photographs and maintain accurate records during site inspections.
• Prepare clear and professional technical reports outlining findings, root cause and recommendations.
• Complete call-out reports accurately and maintain detailed records.
• Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, consultants and electricians on site.
• Assist with technical queries and customer support where required.
• Manage and control returned stock accurately.
• Ensure all returns are properly logged, tracked and processed.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, product failures and returned items.
• Assist in improving repairs and returns processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
• Ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the Repairs and Returns function.
• Liaise with Procurement, Warehouse, Technical and Sales teams.
• Respond to customer queries and attend technical meetings when required.
• Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports for management.
• Ensure company procedures, service levels and compliance requirements are followed.
• Assist with additional projects and duties as required.

• Matric / Grade 12.
• Tertiary technical qualification will be advantageous.
• Valid South African driver's licence and reliable transport.
• Residing in Johannesburg.
• Willing and able to travel to installation sites when required.
• Minimum 3 years' relevant technical experience, preferably within the electrical industry.
• Strong electrical and electronic fault-finding skills are essential.
• Experience with technical repairs and diagnostics.
• Understanding of returns management and inventory control.
• Ability to inspect lighting installations and identify faults or non-compliant electrical practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and installation requirements.
• Experience with NRCS compliance processes will be advantageous.
• Computer literate with strong Excel skills.
• SYSPRO experience will be highly advantageous.
