Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain refractory linings in furnaces, kilns, ladles, and other high-temperature equipment.
- Mix, cut, and shape refractory materials such as firebricks, castable, and insulation materials.
- Read and interpret refractory drawings and specifications to ensure accurate installation.
- Apply refractory materials using correct bonding agents and installation techniques.
- Inspect and remove worn or damaged refractory linings.
- Perform patching, gunning, and casting work as required.
- Operate power tools, hand tools, and lifting equipment safely.
- Maintain good housekeeping and comply with all safety standards on site.
Minimum Requirements- National Senior Certificate (Matric).
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Refractory Mason in a Metal, Foundry, or Engineering environment.
- Red Seal as a Refractory Mason or Bricklayer — essential
- 25 tons Overhead Crane Licence
- Forklift Licence
- Proven experience with furnace relining, bricklaying, and castable installation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Sasol or heavy industrial site experience will be an advantage.
- Must be a local candidate.
