The purpose of this position is to manage and coordinate all data related activities for studies at the Masiphumelele Research Office. It involves administering databases and overseeing the capturing of data and ensuring data quality.

Minimum Requirements:

• Master’s degree in any of the Health Sciences (MPH, MMed. Etc.)
• Minimum of 2 years staff management experience
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a clinical trial environment
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with databases like REDCAP and iMedidata and resolving queries
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in data quality management including implementing data quality management plan
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with monitors/ auditors/ inspectors and sponsors on clinical trial data and resolution of queries
• Must be proficient in MS Excel, and other browser-based metadata EDC software (e.g. REDCap, iMedidata)
• Knowledge of research documentation standards
• Design of source documents
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
• Attention to detail

Advantageous:

• Ability to speak isiXhosa
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Valid Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certificate

Responsibilities:

• Provide oversite for research data collection for studies at Masiphumelele
• Provide oversite for web-based data collection systems
• Design study documents
• Work with monitors to resolve any and all outstanding queries
• Monitoring active reports regarding enrolment and retention of participants
• Ensure training of and optimal implementation of all components of project data management
• Train and support field-based data collection staff members
• Line management of the data team
• Generate reports for clinical collaborators and researchers
