Quality Controller

ABOUT THE JOB

The Quality Controller ensures that raw materials, packaging components, in-process bulks, and finished goods conform to approved specifications and internal GMP standards. This role involves performing physical and organoleptic testing, documenting results, reporting deviations, and collaborating with Production and Warehouse teams to maintain product integrity and compliance, supporting continuous improvement efforts. This position is key to ensuring that all personal care and cosmetic products meet the companies quality, safety, and aesthetic standards, thereby supporting member satisfaction and brand trust.

THE HATS YOU MAY WEAR

1. Tester and Inspector: Sample raw materials, bulk, and finished goods according to approved SOPs; conduct in-process checks on viscosity, pH, density, fill volume, colour, and odour.
2. Gatekeeper: Compare samples against approved retain standards and product specifications; tag accepted lots with Green QC Approved stickers and rejected lots with Red QC Hold/Reject stickers.
3. Documentation Champion: Maintain legible and complete records in alignment with GMP; complete and file QC Test Reports and upload digital copies to the QMS repository.
4. Quality Guardian: Inspect primary and secondary packaging components for appearance, defects, and compliance with specifications; review COAs and verify supplier data before material release.
5. Problem Solver: Report all deviations immediately; support investigations into root causes and assist in implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
6. Compliance Ambassador: Uphold GMP standards including cleanliness, equipment calibration, and PPE compliance; participate in internal audits and training sessions.
7. Continuous Improver: Suggest process or procedural improvements to enhance product quality or efficiency.

1. National Senior Certificate (NQF4) minimum required.
2. Quality-related diploma/certificate courses completed would be an advantage.
3. 1+ years experience in a similar quality control role.
4. Computer literate – intermediate level.
5. Literacy at a level to comprehend and carry out instructions and ability to read and process product information.
6. Ability to investigate and solution-solve.
7. Strong presentation and communication skills.
