Qualified Boilermaker

Minimum Requirements

• National Certificate in Boilermaking or equivalent qualification.
• Excellent knowledge of welding, electrical equipment, and liquid pressure systems.
• Thorough understanding of boiler manufacturing, pressure vessels, and boiler components.
• Basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
• Good draughting and blueprint reading skills.
• Strong commitment to housekeeping, quality standards, and workplace safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Wear and maintain appropriate PPE at all times.
• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, and related structures.
• Perform welding, bolting, fitting, and alignment of pressure vessel components.
• Inspect boilers, tanks, vessels, valves, tubes, and fittings for defects and repair requirements.
• Install and maintain manholes, handholes, taps, valves, gauges, and associated components.
• Lay out, mark, cut, bend, and shape steel plates and heavy metal sections according to specifications and drawings.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication plans.
• Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts and structural components.
• Shape, straighten, and align metal sections using specialized equipment and tools.
• Assemble large vessels and structures prior to installation to ensure correct fitment.
• Operate fabrication equipment such as welding machines, presses, rollers, drills, torches, and metalworking machinery.
• Assist with rigging and lifting operations when positioning heavy components.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality control, and housekeeping.
