SUMMARY:
A leading property investment and development organisation is looking for a Property Accountant to join its finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial administration and accounting of a portfolio of properties, supporting the Financial Manager and Financial Controller in maintaining accurate financial records, reporting and controls.

POSITION INFO:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor cash flow and coordinate internal banking transfers.
Prepare bank and general ledger reconciliations.
Process and release invoices, including VAT payments.
Manage purchase orders and supplier payment processes.
Maintain supplier relationships and prepare supplier reconciliations.
Capture and allocate invoices and property-related costs accurately.
Ensure tenant income is accurately and timeously recorded.
Assist with budgeting, cost control and monthly rolling forecasts.
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
Perform utility reconciliations and provide variance explanations.
Assist with external audits and resolve audit queries.
Manage the VAT function, including monthly VAT calculations, VAT201 returns and submissions to SARS.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, internal policies and financial controls.
Assist with resolving SARS queries and implementing audit recommendations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting Sciences.
NQF Level 6/7.
2–3 years’ experience in a similar accounting role.
Previous property accounting experience will be highly advantageous.
Experience within the property and/or construction industry will be advantageous.
Strong computer literacy and accounting package proficiency.
Good financial and business acumen.
Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
Strong sense of accountability, integrity and collaboration.

The role requires strong financial acumen, accounting knowledge, attention to detail, communication skills and computer literacy.
