POSITION INFO:

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to manage a portfolio of renewable energy construction projects in the capacity of Principal Agent / Owner’s Engineer.

The successful candidate will take ownership of projects from contractor appointment through construction, commissioning and close-out, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple solar PV and battery energy storage projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Act as Principal Agent and trusted advisor to clients.
• Manage contractors, consultants and professional teams.
• Oversee JBCC and EPC contract administration, including claims, variations, payment certificates and extensions of time.
• Monitor project programmes, budgets, quality, risks and commercial performance.
• Review technical designs, drawings, engineering documentation and project methodologies.
• Conduct site inspections and quality assurance activities.
• Lead project meetings, stakeholder coordination and client reporting.
• Coordinate commissioning, snagging, practical completion and project close-out.
• Ensure successful project handover to Operations and Maintenance.
• Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Drive continuous improvement and capture project lessons learned.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 3 years’ experience in Development/Construction Project Management or Principal Agent roles.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Experience administering construction contracts, including variations, claims, instructions and payment certification.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel nationally.

Advantageous

• B/BSc Engineering, BTech, National Diploma or equivalent built-environment qualification, or PMP certification.
• EPC project experience.
• Experience in solar PV, BESS, electrical or related infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of JBCC contracts.
• Owner’s Engineer, Construction Monitoring, Lenders’ Technical Advisor or consultancy experience.
• Electrical qualification or Wireman’s Licence.
• Solar PV design/draughting experience.
• Professional registration with SACPCMP, ECSA or a comparable professional body.
• Experience with ground-mount solar, BESS or wheeled energy projects.
