SUMMARY:
PRODUCTION MANAGER – MANUFACTURING (CAPE TOWN)
An established and reputable manufacturing organisation within the consumer goods sector is seeking an experienced Production Manager to join their team in Cape Town. This is a senior operational role suited to a dynamic leader with strong Lean manufacturing expertise and a proven track record in driving performance, efficiency, and team engagement within a fast-paced production environment.

POSITION INFO:

The Role

The successful candidate will take full accountability for the daily manufacturing plan, ensuring that production targets are achieved on time, within budget, to required quality standards, and in a safe working environment.
This role is responsible for overseeing the effective conversion of raw materials into finished goods through optimal utilisation of machinery, systems, and people. You will play a key role in aligning production outputs with broader business objectives of efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptability.
Key focus areas include:

Driving attainment of daily production targets and accurate reporting of planned vs actual output
Leading and motivating production teams to deliver high performance
Implementing and championing Lean manufacturing, 5S, and waste reduction initiatives
Ensuring compliance with all internal policies, BCEA, LRA, Bargaining Council Main Agreements, and OHS legislation
Managing performance, training, multiskilling, and workforce planning
Partnering with Maintenance to ensure preventative maintenance schedules are executed
Managing raw material yield and reducing operational waste
Embedding a strong quality culture aligned to “Do it Right the First Time” principles
Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and emergency procedures

Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
Tertiary qualification in a Production-related discipline
Post-matric qualification in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (advantageous)
Minimum 7 years’ experience in a middle management role within a manufacturing environment
Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
Proficiency in MS Office (advanced Excel essential)
Syspro experience advantageous
