JOB DESCRIPTION:

Introduction

Our client requires a Production Manager to oversee the Manufacturing and Assembly process of an entire Manufacturing Plant consisting of various Departments in the production process for around 300 + employees. The emphasis is on the production process which follows on the processes of position 2 below. The sub-assemblies and other production items then proceed to an Assembly process where the Trailer are being assembled, welded, prepared, painted and finally fitted to be Quality Checked. This includes overseeing of welding, grinding, painting, wheel fitting, curtain fitting, tyre fitting, hydraulic fitting as well as other production processes.

Duties & Responsibilities

Planning

Prepare a complete production plan weekly in advance, present and discuss with Management. Organise, monitor and control staff, shift allocations and overtime. Manage overtime request processes.

Optimise capacity planning and processes.

Manage staff requirements and direct the production team.

Maintain flexibility by managing the different projects and ensure their timeous delivery.

Act proactively by identifying, solving and/or reporting unforeseen challenges.

Drive process optimization and cost saving initiatives.

Liaise with the Plant manager on improvements in your section and drive to continuously improve the efficiency of your department.

Report problems or situations to the Plant manager.

Administration and Safety

Manage and report on safety, production, quality, budgets, manpower and industrial relations. Create and ensure safe working conditions at all times.

Maintain discipline and adherence to company policies

Co-ordinate of different projects flexibly, efficiently and effectively.

Attend to and sign off all clock cards and process to payroll weekly.

Ensure general neatness and organisation of the department.

Manage and address discipline and general work performance of employees within the department.
