Production Assistant - Pharmacy

POSITION INFO:

Our client requires a Production Assistant to contribute to its mission of establishing local biological and vaccine manufacturing capability at its Cape Town based site. Being the only one of its kind in South Africa, our client strives to respond to the vaccine needs of the developing countries, specifically South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. This is a particularly exciting time for the company as it continues to grow, strengthen, and build on its success and further develop its capabilities, products, services, and market diversification.

The successful incumbent will report to Production Team Leader.

 Job Purpose

• To execute all operational activities in accordance with the Quality Standards as set out by the Company and Regulatory GMP requirements.
• To assist in the execution of all relevant operational activities efficiently to meet the Operational deliverables as set out by the Company

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Safety Deliverables

• Responsible to ensure one’s own safety is priority during any of the operational duties
• Responsible to identify safety hazards and improvements within the respective department.
• Responsible to promote the safety metrics as set forth by the Company

Quality Deliverables

• Responsible to ensure that all production activities and stages comply with company procedures, policies and regulatory GMP requirements.
• Ensure the manufacturing and production activities comply with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Responsible for the housekeeping in the areas of expertise.
• Assists with the on-barding and induction training of new operational staff within the areas of expertise.
• Responsible for the escalation of any quality incidents during any production/operational activity

Production/Operations

• Responsible for the execution of any relevant, trained task prescribed by SOPs or by the relevant Supervisors
• Responsible to timeously execute reasonable tasks as outlined by the production/operation supervisors, this includes but is not limited to: - Washing, preparation and sterilisation equipment
• Scales, balances and in-process control equipment
• Environmental and Utility sampling
• Storage and management of cleaning material
• Execution of waste removal
• Preparation of gowning material.
• Printing or completion of relevant labels
• Manual packaging of products
• Manual viewing of filled or semi-finished units for quality and aesthetic defects

Experience & industry accreditation/ knowledge

Required:

• At least 6 months in a similar or relevant work environment
• Knowledge and experience in general hygiene
• Experience in documentation preparation

Preferred:

• Experience within a manufacturing/operations department
• Experience within a cGMP environment
• Gowning and cleanroom experience/knowledge 

Qualifications

Required:

• Minimum Grade 12/Senior Certificate

Preferred:

• Recognition is given to Prior Learning and practical experience
