Our client, a specialist personal tax division within a reputable accounting firm, is looking for an ambitious, detail-driven Personal Tax Assistant to join their growing team. This full-time, office-based role offers structured training, direct exposure to a variety of tax matters and strong mentorship from a seasoned Tax Practitioner.

POSITION INFO:

Qualifications and skills required:

Studying toward or completed a degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or Business (essential)
1+ years’ experience in personal tax, including preparation of returns and SARS eFiling (preferred)
Fluent in English is essential
Fluent in Afrikaans is advantageous
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Strong communication skills and a client-first mindset
Ability to work independently and proactively, with a team-oriented approach
Desire to grow a long-term career in personal tax

Key responsibilities:

Act as the first point of contact for client queries and assist with onboarding
Prepare provisional and annual personal income tax returns for review and submission
Troubleshoot and resolve eFiling issues for clients
Liaise directly with SARS via calls and in-person appointments
Assist with various off-season tasks such as tax directives, foreign taxpayer support and historic return submissions
Manage administrative tasks, including billing, debit orders, invoicing and document scanning
Assist with social media content, template development and system/process improvements
Participate in webinars and complete relevant training during off-peak periods

Working environment:

Office-based (no hybrid/remote option at this stage)
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00–16:00, Friday 8:00–14:00
