WatersEdge Solutions is partnering with a growing, professional insurance brokerage to appoint an experienced Personal Lines Underwriter to its George-based team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified short-term insurance professional who enjoys working directly with clients, managing personal lines underwriting requirements and delivering consistently high levels of service. About the Role
As Personal Lines Underwriter, you’ll support the day-to-day management of personal lines insurance portfolios, assisting clients and brokers with underwriting amendments, queries, new business and compliance requirements.
You’ll also interact directly with walk-in clients, helping them with their insurance requirements and ensuring they receive professional, responsive support.
The role requires someone with previous Personal Lines underwriting experience, sound short-term insurance knowledge and the relevant industry qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Process and manage Personal Lines underwriting amendments.
Respond professionally and efficiently to client and broker enquiries.
Assist walk-in clients with their Personal Lines insurance requirements.
Support the activation and administration of new business.
Assist with relevant insurance compliance requirements.
Ensure client and policy information is captured and maintained accurately.
Work closely with the broader Personal Lines team to ensure efficient service delivery.
Liaise with clients, brokers and insurers as required.
Work across insurer platforms when processing policy and underwriting requirements.
Deliver consistently high levels of client service.
Maintain accurate records and follow established underwriting and compliance processes.
What You’ll Bring
A valid Matric Certificate.
Class of Business – Short-Term Insurance.
A valid RE5 qualification.
A valid Short-Term Insurance qualification.
Previous hands-on Personal Lines underwriting experience.
Good understanding of Personal Lines insurance products and underwriting processes.
Strong client service and communication skills.
Ability to respond confidently and professionally to client and broker queries.
Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively as part of a client-focused insurance team.
Nice to Have
Experience working on insurer platforms such as Santam, Old Mutual Insure or similar insurer systems.
Previous experience using the Cardinal system.
Experience working within an insurance brokerage environment.
Experience assisting clients directly with Personal Lines insurance requirements.
