Payroll Officer

My client in the security services industry is looking for a Payroll Officer to join their finance team. This role is ideally suited to a detail-oriented payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about accuracy, compliance, and delivering exceptional service to employees across the business

POSITION INFO:

Job Description:

• Processing monthly, weekly, and bi-weekly payroll accurately and within prescribed deadlines
• Administering end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee complement
• Calculating salaries, wages, overtime, shift allowances, leave pay, bonuses, and other earnings
• Ensuring accurate processing of deductions, including PAYE, UIF, SDL, medical aid, pension, provident fund, garnishee orders, and other statutory requirements
• Maintaining employee payroll records and ensure all information is accurate and up to date
• Processing employee appointments, terminations, transfers, promotions, salary increases, and other payroll-related changes
• Reconciling payroll transactions and payroll-related balance sheet accounts
• Preparing payroll journals and assist with month-end reporting requirements
• Ensuring compliance with relevant labour legislation, payroll legislation, and company policies
• Submitting statutory returns and maintain supporting payroll documentation

• 5+ years' experience in a payroll-focused role
• Proven experience processing payroll from start to finish
• Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation and statutory requirements
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience using payroll systems such as Sage VIP, Sage 300 People (or similar)
• Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

• B.Com Accounting (or similar)
