JOB DESCRIPTION:

Payroll Administrator

Finance       

Accountable for specialist outputs, as well as initiating quality standards within defined work routines and policies.

Job Purpose

To ensure that all aspects of the payroll cycle in respect of 500+ employees and benefits administration are processed in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with Company and legislative requirements.

Key Accountabilities and Outputs

Payroll Administration

  • Set up all new employees on VIP system.
  • Capture all personal, payment, training and employment equity data on VIP for correct classifying, planning and reporting purposes.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll issues with management and employees at various operating locations.
  • Create and / or run reports from payroll or time and attendance system
  • Act as time and attendance system administrator
  • Ensure the timely processing of journal entries into the accounting system
  • Prepare reconciliations for payroll accounts
  • Prepare and submit payroll deductions and remittances on a timely basis and ensure records are up to date
  • Capture all forms of leave on a weekly basis and issue reports to relevant departments on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare various payroll reports as requested.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Coordinate employee benefits and administration as necessary
  • Provide input for the development of policies and procedures within area of concern
  • Perform other related duties as instructed.

Adherence to the health, safety and environmental standards

  • Ensure adherence to site safety standards as head of Safety, Health and Environmental Committee
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant legislation

  • Conversant with relevant business information, policies, processes and procedures
  • Maintains expected performance standards

Qualifications and Experience

  • National Diploma / NQF 6 (Preferred)
  • 3 - 5 years experience (Operational Execution) Payroll administration
  • MS Excel, Sage People
