Roles and Responsibilities
Position Overview
An established transport and logistics company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to manage the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll.
The successful candidate must have practical experience using Sage 300 and preferably have worked within the transport, logistics or a related industry.
Key Responsibilities

• Process weekly, fortnightly and/or monthly payroll using Sage 300.
• Capture new employees, terminations and employee information changes.
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records.
• Process salaries, overtime, allowances, bonuses, deductions and leave.
• Verify timesheets, attendance records, overtime and shift information.
• Calculate and process PAYE, UIF, pension or provident fund contributions, medical aid and garnishee orders.
• Reconcile payroll information before final processing.
• Prepare payslips, payroll reports and payroll journals.
• Manage employee queries relating to salaries, deductions and payslips.
• Assist with EMP201 and EMP501 reconciliations and submissions.
• Prepare IRP5 and IT3(a) certificates.
• Ensure compliance with SARS, UIF, COIDA and applicable labour legislation.
• Assist with annual increases, bonuses and payroll adjustments.
• Liaise with HR, finance, operations and external service providers.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee and payroll information.
• Support internal and external payroll audits.
• Perform general payroll and administrative duties as required.

• Grade 12.
• A relevant qualification in Payroll, Finance, Accounting or Human Resources would be advantageous.
• At least 3 years’ payroll administration experience.
• Practical working experience with Sage 300 is essential.
• Experience processing a medium to large payroll.
• Sound knowledge of South African payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in the transport or logistics industry would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with transport-related overtime, shifts, allowances and deductions would be beneficial.
• Knowledge of the National Bargaining Council for the Road Freight and Logistics Industry would be advantageous.
