Operator (8 Months - Limited Duration Contract) - Site Based

SUMMARY:
SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To operate a Skid Steer Loader safely, efficiently, and within operational specifications, performing assigned duties as directed by Site Management in a safe, productive, and cost‑effective manner.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:

• Matric (Grade 12)

• Valid Skid Steer Operator Certificate
• Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness to Work (Construction)

• Minimum two (2) years’ construction experience as a Skid Steer Operator or similar earthmoving equipment operator

• Operate the skid steer loader in accordance with manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and site safety rules;
• Load, move, spread, level, and stockpile materials on construction sites;
• Perform trenching, backfilling, clearing, and levelling operations as required;
• Operate attachments such as buckets, forks, breakers, or brooms where required;
• Demonstrate sound knowledge of machine operating limits and site conditions, including appropriate action in difficult or unsafe conditions;
• Carry out limited manual labour related to operational activities;
• Load and off-load the skid steer and attachments for transportation;
• Read and interpret basic site instructions and plans relevant to the task.

• Conduct daily visual and operational pre-use inspections using approved checklists;
• Ensure correct parking, securing, and shutdown procedures are followed;
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic servicing tasks within capability;
• Maintain the machine in a clean, serviceable, and safe operating condition;
• Report mechanical faults or safety defects immediately to Site Management;
• Minimise breakdowns and lost production time through proper machine care.

• Maintain accurate daily logs, inspection checklists, and operational records as required.
