About MarathonOne:

MarathonOne is a non-bank commercial asset finance intermediary headquartered in Pretoria. We structure fleet and asset-backed finance facilities for businesses across transport, construction, and agriculture, working with a panel of leading South African asset finance funders. The team is small, senior, and self-managed. We are profitable, established (incorporated 2023), and currently scaling our deal flow alongside a separate digital platform initiative (M1 Finance).

Why we''re hiring The directors are originating, structuring, and closing the majority of deal flow themselves. We need an Operations manager to own the deal-to-payout process end-to-end so the directors can focus on origination, funder strategy, and growth. This is a process-ownership role, not a junior coordination role.

What you''ll own

• The full deal pipeline from credit submission through to funder payout, including document quality control, funder liaison, and chasing internal and external blockers
• Day-to-day relationships with funder credit and operations teams across our funder panel
• Internal deal file standards: cashflow models, credit memos, KYC/FICA packs, surety documentation, security registration
• Process design and continuous improvement — most of what currently sits in the directors'' heads needs to be documented, systemised, and run by you
• Client onboarding workflow and post-deal administration

Must-haves

• 2 year in commercial asset finance, vehicle and asset finance (VAF), equipment finance, or a closely related credit/back-office function — bank, OEM finance house, or intermediary background all relevant. Or BCom.
• Hands-on exposure to funder credit submission and payout processes (not just a sales-side view). Or Bcom.
• Strong document and process discipline; comfortable with credit application documents, sureties, resolutions, and security perfection
• Exceptional written communication — we live by clear emails to funders and clients
• South African market knowledge; familiarity with FICA, NCA, and POPIA in a compliance context

Nice-to-haves

• Existing relationships with SA asset finance funders
• Exposure to IFRS for SMEs / financial statement analysis (we frequently engage on credit narratives)

 The person Self-starter who thrives without supervision. Detail-obsessed without being slow. Comfortable picking up the phone to a senior credit manager at a funder and solving the problem. Brings structure rather than waiting to be given it.

Package, location, and process

• Package range: R 360 000 – R 480 000
• Location: Pretoria-based with hybrid flexibility; Johannesburg-based candidates considered if commute is workable
• Reporting to: Managing Director (Jayson)
