Ocean Import Controller

SUMMARY:
Role Purpose: To manage and coordinate end‑to‑end ocean import operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and excellent client service.

POSITION INFO:

• Handle full ocean import processes from booking to final delivery
• Prepare and process import documentation (Bills of Lading, customs entries, declarations, transporter instructions, etc.)
• Liaise with shipping lines, agents, transporters, and clients to arrange collections/deliveries and resolve operational issues
• Monitor shipments, provide proactive updates, and manage exceptions or delays
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations, Incoterms, and international trade procedures
• Manage costings, invoicing, and accurate file administration using logistics systems
• Negotiate rates with carriers when required
• Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and problem‑solving

• 3–5 years’ experience in ocean imports/logistics (strong candidates with less experience may be considered)
• Solid knowledge of Incoterms, customs clearance, and international trade procedures
• Proficiency in logistics systems (CargoWise, ShipShape or similar) and MS Office (Excel, Outlook essential)
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client service skills
