OPERATIONS FARM MANAGER

SUMMARY:

Klein Karoo Area – Southern Cape:   The Operations manager provides leadership, management, skill, and vision for the farming operation and ensures the appropriate people, systems and procedures are in place for the successful development and performance of all production

POSITION INFO:

An exciting opportunity awaits the successful candidate with good schools in the vicinity

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bsc Agri with agronomy and or a business degree with agricultural background, advantageous

A minimum of 10 years previous experience in similar role, including below points

1. Sound technical and practical agronomy experience in orchard management (citrus, deciduous fruit / nut trees and or olive)- total cycle, advantageous
2. Sound technical and practical experience with the total cycle of livestock (sheep and/or beef)
3. Sound technical and practical experience in winter and summer crops – total cycle
4. Proven maintenance and mechanical understanding
5. Proven working experience with irrigation (drip irrigation, pivot, floppy) and water scheduling

Operate as a strategic and tactical thinker with a focus on executing plans

Organizational leadership experience

Ability to motivate employees and drive organizational change and development

Strong written and verbal communication in English and Afrikaans

Computer literate

Creative problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills

Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset

Ability to communicate effectively with leadership, peers and employees

A passion for helping people in the organization and community
