Model Builder Draughtsman

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Model Builder with strong 3D modelling and multidisciplinary coordination expertise. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and coordinating high-quality digital models, working closely with engineers, designers, draughtspersons, and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain accurate discipline-specific 3D models.
• Coordinate models and deliverables across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Participate in model reviews, clash detection, and coordination activities.
• Ensure models comply with project standards, client requirements, and modelling procedures.
• Support drawing extraction, documentation, and model quality reviews.
• Resolve modelling issues collaboratively with engineers and project teams.
• Assist with modelling standards, templates, libraries, and workflows.
• Support BIM, VDC, and digital engineering initiatives.
• Participate in project and client coordination meetings.

Candidate Requirements

• 3 to 8 years’ relevant engineering modelling experience.
• Experience within mining, infrastructure, industrial, or consulting engineering projects.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain discipline-specific 3D models.
• Strong multidisciplinary model coordination experience.
• Proficiency in Navisworks Manage (essential).
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Exposure to Civil 3D, Revit and/or Plant 3D.
• Experience with model federation, clash detection, and model review processes.
• Understanding of BIM and digital engineering workflows.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud and Autodesk Vault.
• Advance Steel experience is advantageous.
• AVEVA experience is advantageous.
• Experience with Reality Capture / Point Cloud to 3D model is advantageous.
• Relevant Engineering, Draughting or Drawing Office qualification preferred.
• BIM-related qualifications or Autodesk certification are advantageous.

Additional Advantages

• Experience in mining and minerals processing projects.
• Familiarity with ISO 19650 principles and BIM Execution Plans.
• Understanding of digital project delivery and information management processes.

Contract Details

This is a per-hour contract role, with a minimum duration of three months and potential extension based on project requirements.
