POSITION INFO:
My client is seeking a highly skilled and trade-tested Millwright to join their manufacturing team in Pinetown. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing a wide range of SMT and electronic manufacturing equipment. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical expertise to ensure maximum equipment uptime, production efficiency, and adherence to safety and quality standards within a high-volume production environment.

Key Responsibilities

⚙️ Equipment Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on SMT and production machinery (pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, wave soldering equipment, etc.)
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation system faults
• Carry out precision alignment, calibration, and setup of manufacturing equipment
• Respond to breakdowns promptly to minimise production downtime
• Replace or repair faulty components and systems as required

🔧 Installation & Commissioning

• Assist with installation, commissioning, and setup of new machinery and equipment
• Ensure proper integration of equipment into existing production lines
• Support equipment upgrades and automation improvements

🏭 Facility Maintenance

• Maintain plant infrastructure including electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and general utilities
• Conduct routine inspections of facility systems and implement corrective actions
• Support general building maintenance including lighting, roofing, and structural repairs

📊 Preventative Maintenance & Documentation

• Execute scheduled preventative maintenance programmes
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, equipment history, and service records
• Monitor spare parts usage and assist with inventory control
• Ensure all maintenance activities are properly documented and compliant

🛡️ Safety & Compliance

• Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and ESD standards
• Conduct equipment safety checks and identify potential hazards
• Ensure safe working practices in all maintenance activities
• Support compliance with ISO and manufacturing quality standards

👥 Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with production teams to resolve equipment-related issues
• Provide technical support to operators and junior maintenance staff
• Assist in identifying process improvements to increase efficiency
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives

Minimum Requirements

• Trade Tested Millwright (Red Seal preferred)
• 3–5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment
• Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic fault-finding skills
• Experience within electronic manufacturing / SMT environment advantageous
• Solid understanding of PLCs and automation systems (advantageous)
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations
• Ability to work shifts or overtime when required
