POSITION INFO:

Purpose of the Role:
To maintain, repair, and optimize mechanical, electrical, and automated equipment in a cheese production facility. The millwright ensures minimal downtime and efficient operation of machinery used in dairy processing, packaging, and refrigeration, while complying with food safety and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment (e.g., pasteurizers, separators, packaging machines, conveyors).

• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production and utility systems.

• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.

• Calibrate, adjust, and test equipment to ensure optimal performance.

• Work with electrical and automation systems where applicable.

• Maintain clean, organized, and safe working conditions in line with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP).

• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and plant upgrades.

• Maintain detailed maintenance records and logs.

• Collaborate with production and quality teams to minimize downtime and ensure product quality.

• Adhere to all safety and health regulations and participate in safety training and audits.

Qualifications Required:

• Trade Test Certificate: Millwright (Red Seal).

• Matric (Grade 12) with Maths and Science.

• Additional technical training in food processing equipment is an advantage.

Experience:

• 3–5 years of post-qualification experience as a Millwright in a food or beverage manufacturing environment, preferably in dairy or cheese processing.

• Experience working with stainless steel equipment, CIP systems, refrigeration units, and high-hygiene environments.

• Strong working knowledge of motors, pumps, gearboxes, and PLC-driven machinery.

• Supervise and mentor staff.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Valid trade test certificate with red seal
• N4-N6 Diploma in electrical or mechanical- Advantageous
• Electrical competency ( COC)- Advantageous
• Valid drivers licence
