Job Title: Microbiologist
Our client based on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Microbiologist. This role is ideal for a proactive professional passionate about food safety and quality standards.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, or a related field
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role within the food industry
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Willing to work overtime and relocate if necessary
Responsibilities:
- Train staff in line with the company’s training matrix
- Conduct regular hygiene inspections and prevent cross-contamination
- Collect environmental samples and swabs from production areas
- Accurately capture data and compile reports
- Investigate process-related wastage and handle Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
- Ensure traceability and monitor recipe adherence
- Supervise microbiology team hygiene practices and performance
- Manage shelf-life sampling and coordinate lab testing
- Conduct microbiological testing and manage calibration schedules
