About Our Client

The company provides Owner’s Engineer (OE) services for utility-scale PV and BESS projects. It oversees EPC contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with contractual and technical requirements during the construction phase.

The Role: Mechanical Supervisor – Utility Scale PV & BESS Projects

The Mechanical Supervisor exists to supervise all mechanical installation activities associated with utility-scale PV plants and Battery Energy Storage Systems. This role contributes to the business by ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering drawings, project specifications, and construction schedules. The main focus involves overseeing mechanical works within Owner’s Engineer projects and ensuring subcontractor compliance with quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise mechanical construction activities for PV and BESS installations with a minimum of 6–8 years of proven experience.

• Monitor installation of module mounting structures, trackers, inverter stations, BESS containers, HVAC systems, and mechanical infrastructure.

• Ensure all works are completed according to IFC drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

• Coordinate mechanical subcontractors and site labour teams while conducting inspections for QA/QC compliance.

• Review contractor method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and risk assessments.

• Support construction planning, progress reporting, and the identification of construction risks for corrective action.

• Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements, South African construction regulations, and OHSA.

• Assist with punch listing, pre-commissioning, and handover activities.

About You

• Minimum 6–8 years of proven experience in utility-scale PV and BESS projects.

• Bachelor’s Degree or BTech in Mechanical Engineering.

• Registered or eligible for registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).

• Demonstrated experience on Owner’s Engineer (OE) projects.

• Strong understanding of solar PV plant construction methodologies.

• Knowledge of South African construction regulations, OHSA, and HSE requirements.

• Possession of a valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to remote project sites.

• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
