Mechanical Fitter
A leading food producer in the poultry industry, based on the South Coast, is seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its Engineering Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maximising machine uptime and ensuring the reliable and efficient functioning of processing, packaging, and conveyor systems.

Key Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine preventative maintenance on plant machinery to minimise breakdowns and maximise equipment reliability.
Breakdown Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical failures efficiently, including hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor systems, pumps, and associated equipment.
Installations & Modifications: Assist with the installation, commissioning, modification, and maintenance of new and existing equipment.
Health, Safety & Food Safety: Ensure all work complies with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, company procedures, and applicable food safety standards.
Documentation: Accurately complete maintenance records, job cards, and other relevant engineering documentation.
Standby & Shift Work: Be available for shift work, weekend work, standby duties, and emergency call-outs when required.
Requirements and Skills
Red Seal Trade Test – Qualified Fitter or Millwright.
Grade 12 / Matric.
N4–N6 Mechanical Engineering Certificate will be advantageous.
3–5 years' maintenance experience, preferably within a fast-paced FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities.
Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and pumps.
Proficiency in welding and cutting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure.
A strong team player with excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.
