SUMMARY:

Mechanical Design Engineer – Benoni
A well-established engineering and manufacturing environment within the mining and mineral processing sector is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join its team in Benoni. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale process equipment and customised engineering solutions used across a range of commodities.

POSITION INFO:

Key Requirements:

BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 4–6 years’ experience in mechanical design
Proven experience in designing heavy mechanical equipment or process plant components
Exposure to mining, mineral processing, or related industries is highly advantageous
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
Strong understanding of fabrication, machining, and manufacturing processes

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop mineral processing equipment such as mills, scrubbers, thickeners, screens, and materials handling systems
Produce detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation
Perform design calculations, reviews, and optimisation for performance and reliability
Collaborate with project, process, and manufacturing teams to deliver complete engineering solutions
Support equipment assembly, testing, and commissioning activities
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and specifications

Ability to work on complex, custom-engineered projects
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage deadlines in a project-driven environment
