Maintenance and General Assistant

POSITION INFO:

A well-established organisation is seeking a Maintenance and General Assistant responsible for the general maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the company’s facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general cleaning, repair, and maintenance work inside and around the building.

• Report any defects, damage, or broken items on the premises.

• Receive and supervise contractors during working hours and after hours, including weekends, for repairs, installations, or maintenance.

• Conduct regular inspections of fire extinguishers, gas cylinders, and emergency equipment.

• Assist with moving and setting up tables, chairs, and other items for staff meetings and functions.

• Support fleet management by completing and updating vehicle inspection checklists.

• Perform basic repairs to aluminium doors, frames, and windows.

• Carry out basic plumbing tasks and minor electrical repairs when required.

• Apply and adhere to safety rules and procedures when working with contractors and during all maintenance activities.

Requirements

• Good computer literacy, including MS Office.

• Strong planning and organisational skills.

• Good communication skills in both English and Afrikaans.

• Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Proactive and responsible approach to work.

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in building maintenance.

• Matric certificate (minimum requirement).

• Valid EB driver’s licence.

• Safety training will be advantageous.
