POSITION INFO:

VACANCY: MAINTENANCE FITTER

Location: Bloemfontein, Free State
Position: Permanent
Salary: R20 000–R30 000 per month, negotiable up to R35 000 for exceptional experience

A well-established food manufacturing company is looking for a qualified Maintenance Fitter to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial production machinery and equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
• Qualified Fitter with a recognised Trade Test Certificate
• At least 5 years’ post-trade experience
• Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience
• Experience in the food manufacturing industry would be advantageous
• Good mechanical and electrical knowledge
• Valid Code 8 driver’s licence
• Own reliable transport
• Willingness to work standby after hours when required
• Must be medically fit to perform the duties of the position

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct daily inspections of machinery and equipment
• Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance
• Attend to breakdowns and complete repairs
• Diagnose mechanical faults and identify their root causes
• Install, upgrade and modify production equipment
• Fit and assemble metal components and machine parts
• Work with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electromechanical systems
• Participate in scheduled shutdown maintenance
• Complete job cards and maintenance documentation
• Report major faults to the Maintenance Manager
• Supervise and guide maintenance assistants
• Mentor staff and share technical knowledge
• Follow lockout procedures, safety checks and permit requirements
• Maintain high housekeeping, hygiene and food-safety standards
• Comply with OHS, HACCP and company procedures
