Maintenance Fitter

SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a professional and reliable Maintenance Fitter to join the team.

Purpose of the job:

The Maintenance Fitter will be responsible to oversee, co-ordinate routine maintenance, correctly & efficiently on all preparation, sizing equipment including industrial Air-Conditioning on site. The successful incumbent will ensure and maintain the availability of spares for all machinery in the department through central stores & the buying department. Furthermore he/she will oversee and coordinate the effective training, development & assessment of apprentice.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

Maintenance

• Ensure that predictive & preventive maintenance is effectively performed to minimize downtime & maintenance costs.
• Attend to machine breakdowns as quickly as possible to minimize downtime.
• Ensure that safety standards are maintained & best practices followed when maintaining equipment.
• Solve problems as they arise & ensure that any major problems have been communicated to the manager ASAP.
• Manage critical spares to minimize downtime due to equipment breakdown.
• Fix damaged or warn parts to be put back into production to save money on spares wherever possible.
• Control all relevant tools & critical spares so that they are available when needed.
• Maintain housekeeping standards to prevent accidents or incidents.
• Maintain documentation & records for traceability & analysis purposes
• Provide input to the improve on current machinery and operation to optimized cost.

• Act as a mentor & coach to uplift people, improve motivation & provide life skills.
• Facilitate performance management & disciplinary processes.
• Conduct training as & when required to ensure skills transfer & enable empowerment.
• Identify potential & manage personal development goals.
• Perform routine assessments & trade tests on apprentices & learners in the Department throughout their training period.

• Minimum 5 years practical experience within engineering environment after trade tested.
• Fitter trade test
• Experience in Textiles
• Computer literacy
• Candidates must be willing and able to learn
• Must have good problem-solving and communication skills
• Must have a good attendance record from previous employer
• Able to work flexible hours, standby and weekend work
