Maintenance Electrician

POSITION INFO:

To ensure optimal electricity service delivery in the relative area by preserving a safe, reliable and cost-effective distribution network according to the individual consumer’s needs.
Core Job Description and Responsibilities:
• Ensuring that all day to day electrical maintenance requests are speedily attended to and completed within scheduled time.
• Effectively complete and submit all documentation associated with electrical maintenance for further processing as required.
• To oversee all electrical work on the various sites and assist the electrical team.
• Will be responsible for the checking of the main electrical reticulation systems and all the City Council feeds.
• Assist and standby when City Council engineers conduct their monthly inspections and services on all distribution equipment.
• Ensuring that all inspection activities are performed as specified.
• Will manage all electrical upgrade projects and ensure that all relevant documentation is provided, especially where specialist sub-contractors are used.
• Responsible for the testing and servicing of all LV/MV and HV equipment.
• Ensure that all access permits required are co-ordinated properly for sub-contractors.
• Responsible for ensuring that all buildings are adequately inspected with regard to electrical installations and that C.O.C.’s are issued.
• Will observe full adherence to the company’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.
• Develop and compile Inspection, Testing and servicing schedules for all electrical activities as prescribed.
• Accountable for reporting any non-conformances and irregularities to Management when they occur.
• Identify electrical projects which could be undertaken and provide details of such projects.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
• B Tech (electrical)/ N5/6 Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 5-10 Years working experience in a similar environment
• Computer literate
• Valid driver’s licence
• Requires an understanding of all National and International standards related to this position.
