Maintenance Assistant

SUMMARY:
Purpose of the Role
The Maintenance Assistant will support the maintenance department in ensuring that all buildings, facilities, equipment, and surrounding areas are maintained to a high standard. The successful candidate will assist with repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and general upkeep of the property.
Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance

• Perform daily maintenance and repair tasks around the property
• Assist with plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and mechanical repairs
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment
• Ensure all maintenance issues are addressed promptly

• Assist in implementing preventative maintenance schedules
• Monitor equipment and report faults or breakdowns
• Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored

• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of maintenance areas
• Assist with upkeep of staff accommodation, guest areas, and public spaces
• Support gardening and outdoor maintenance when required

• Follow health and safety procedures at all times
• Ensure maintenance work is completed safely and efficiently
• Report hazards, damages, or safety concerns immediately

• Complete maintenance checklists and job cards
• Assist with stock control of maintenance supplies and tools
• Support the maintenance team with ad hoc duties as required

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 2–3 years’ maintenance experience in hospitality, lodge, hotel, or property environment
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance
• Experience using hand and power tools
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair minor maintenance issues
• Valid driver’s license advantageous
• Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and standby when required
