Job Description

The Mainframe COBOL Developer is responsible for ,COBOL development, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, Batch processing, Production support, Performance tuning manner.

Job Duties

• Develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL.
• Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration of systems and processes.
• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practises.
• Identify and resolve defects and performance issues within existing applications.
• Create and maintain technical documentation related to system design, configuration, and procedures.
• Participate in project planning, offering technical expertise and estimations.
• Support production environments by diagnosing and resolving application issues promptly.
• Maintain knowledge of mainframe technologies and industry trends to recommend improvements.

• • Tools/Technologies: COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, TSO/ISPF, Endevor, Changeman
  • Leadership/Management Skills: Technical mentoring (Senior level), support coordination
  • Domain Knowledge: Core Banking, Payments, Deposits, Financial Systems

Education

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
• IBM Mainframe Certifications (desirable)

• At least5–15+ years of experience in mainframe COBOL development.
• Experience working within large-scale enterprise environments is advantageous.
• Demonstrable experience in maintaining and enhancing legacy systems.
