Machine Shop Supervisor

POSITION INFO:

We are looking for an experienced Machine Shop Supervisor who is a hands-on leader with strong CNC machining expertise, production planning experience, and the ability to manage workshop operations while driving quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of approximately 10 machinists and apprentices.
• Perform machine setup and CNC programming using Mastercam.
• Plan daily production activities and machine loading schedules.
• Oversee CNC lathes, machining centres, and conventional/manual machines.
• Conduct quality control checks and first-off inspections.
• Manage tooling selection, utilization, and tool life optimization.
• Coordinate production scheduling to ensure on-time delivery.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Coordinate machine maintenance and downtime management.
• Train, mentor, and manage staff performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and OEE practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a machine shop supervisory or production leadership role.
• Strong CNC machining knowledge, including machine setup and Mastercam programming.
• Experience managing production schedules, quality control, and workshop operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
