MAINTENANCE SHIFT TECHNICIAN

Key Performance Areas – Key Work:

• Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all injection moulding, extrusion, and auxiliary equipment to minimise downtime.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults to ensure continuous production.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, working efficiently to restore production with minimal disruption.
• Be available for standby duty on a rotational basis, responding to urgent maintenance issues outside of normal working hours.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and prevent recurring faults.
• Support the installation, commissioning, and modification of new and existing machinery to meet business needs.
• Work closely with production teams to optimise processes and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Ensure maintenance work complies with local safety regulations (OHSA, SANS, and ISO 9001/IATF 16949 standards).
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) to ensure traceability and compliance with automotive and electrical FMCG industry requirements.
• Participate in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 6S initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
• Train and mentor junior maintenance staff and production operators on basic machine maintenance.
